Rimini and Traditional Cuisine
Rimini’s cuisine manifests the close ties that the city has had for centuries with the countryside and the sea. The most famous dish of Rimini’s cuisine is the thin and wide Piadina stuffed with cold meats, cheeses and vegetables. The best known and most appreciated traditional dishes, typical of special occasions and festivities, are cappelletti and passatelli in broth, and a wide variety of pasta courses such as tagliatelle, strozzapreti, and ravioli made with the famous egg pasta made strictly by hand.
The main courses include a wide variety of grilled meats, rabbit in porchetta and, of course, every kind of fish the Adriatic Sea has to offer in fried, grilled and brodetto dishes. The Rimini hills produce DOC wines - Albana, Cagnina, Pagadebit, Sangiovese and Trebbiano - and the Colli di Romagna PDO extra virgin olive oil.
